Hamlet

1. I think the flowers are imaginary. Flowers are good symbolysim so Ophelia could have imagined them so that she could use them as objects for her explanations.
2. It could suggest a succession of recipients, but we just saw it as repetition in her grammer to emphasize her points.
3. To start with, we believe Ophelia gave Laertes the Rosemary and the Rue as they are mourning the loss of their father. She would probably give the Fennel, a Daisy, Violets, and Pansies to Hamlet. Hamlet got many flowers from her because she has so many different feelings about him.
4. She keeps some for herself because she wants to cry things out after the loss of her father. She is also sad about Hamlet's betrayal.
5. We think it is pretty much just laying there for eveyone to see. The whole group viewing this had some kind of unhappy love.
6. Horatio is simply a spectator because there hasn't been any connection between him and Ophelia shown in the book yet.

Flowers for Hamelt
She would give him rose, aloe, geranium, yellow rose, and peony. She has many conflicted emotions for Hamlet.

Flowers for Gertrude
Hamlet would give her a marigold, aloe, snowdrop, honeysuckle, and a yellow lily. This is because he is saddened by her but she is still his mother so he still loves her.

Flowers for Ophelia
Hamlet would give her a daffodil, amaryllis, a yellow lily, yellow carnations, and a white rose. He may have some prideful emotions since he got her into bed and all.
